Swansea Metropolitan University (SMU):Swansea Metropolitan University came into existence when Swansea Institute of HE was granted a name change by the Privy council in January 2008. Swansea Metropolitan University(SMU) was established in 1992 when it achieved its status of being an independent Higher Education Corporation, but it has roots stretching back over 150 years via predecessor colleges.
