Wales Virtual Institute of Sport Health & Exercise Sciences

University of Wales Newport (UWN):

UWN became a University College of the University of Wales in 1996. At that time, it was known as the University College of Wales Newport, but in 2004 it changed its title to University of Wales Newport. UWN has just finalised major expansion plans aimed at increasing student numbers. It intends to build a new campus in the city centre on the banks of the river Usk and to build on its strategic alliance with UWIC.

Members of 'The Virtual Institute' work in the School of Humanities and Science, which is based in Caerleon - a town on the outskirts of Newport and the site of one of the three Roman Legionary Fortresses in Britain.
