University of Wales Institute Cardiff (UWIC):UWIC was also admitted to the University of Wales as a University College in 1996. It was ranked the top 'new University' in the UK in The Times Good University Guide 2004 league table published in May 2004. The current members of 'The Virtual Institute' are based in the School of Sport, Physical Education & Recreation which is situated at the Cyncoed campus, Cardiff. The research areas of the School focus around exercise physiology, health, exercise and sport, measurement and evaluation of physical fitness and athletic performance, philosophy of sport, biomechanics, psychology, sociology, sport & leisure management and sports performance/coaching.
